How we work
A phased path from Iwo to the nation.
We grow one stage at a time, so every new community benefits from what we learn in the last.
Our five-year roadmap
Phase one
Laying the foundation
Year 1
We set LAAF up properly before we scale it, and we listen before we act. Pilot programs begin in Iwo, alongside local organizations and community leaders.
- Register the foundation and appoint a board of trustees and management team
- Assess what the community needs
- Identify and document the people we will support
- Launch pilot programs
- Build partnerships with local organizations and community leaders
Phase two
Growing across Osun State
Years 2–3
Building on what we learn in Iwo, we take our programs to other communities in Osun State and begin larger empowerment projects.
- Extend programs to more communities in Osun State
- Support more scholarship recipients
- Partner with schools, businesses, and NGOs
- Introduce larger empowerment projects
Phase three
Reaching across Nigeria
Years 4–5
We extend our work to other states and put sustainable funding in place, so our programs can grow without losing quality.
- Bring programs to other states in Nigeria
- Develop national partnerships
- Establish sustainable funding models
- Create larger education, entrepreneurship, and social intervention programs
How we choose who to support
Help should reach the people who need it most, and everyone should be able to see how those decisions are made.
- Recommendations from the community
- An application process
- Needs assessments
- Verification of financial and social circumstances
- Clear eligibility criteria
We give priority to people who show genuine need and a commitment to improving their own circumstances.
How the work is funded
LAAF is built to outlast any single gift, so we are developing a mix of funding rather than relying on one source. This includes donations from individuals and companies, partnerships with local and international organizations, fundraising events, an endowment fund, and annual giving campaigns.
Ways to support LAAFHow we track our work
LAAF is new, so there are no results to report yet. What we can share today is how we measure our work and how we report on it, from the very start. We regularly check whether our programs are working, and we report on it openly.
- Feedback from the people we serve
- Progress reports
- Financial accountability reports
- Assessments of program outcomes
- An annual impact review
Help us reach our first results.
